Join us as we confront the pressing challenge of providing affordable and sustainable housing for all, while uncovering the potential for innovation and trade opportunities within the domestic and global circular economy. In an age where housing affordability and environmental sustainability are increasingly intertwined, this session aims to spark dialogue and action towards transformative solutions. |

Program Manager Nature Based Materials at Wageningen University and Research
Accelerates innovations in the biobased and circular domain. Over 20 years experience in developing impactful biobased value chains as process engineer, Technology manager, consultant and R&D manager. Currently program manager within Wageningen Food and Biobased Research developing applied research projects with industries and governments using sustainable biomass sources to replace fossil resources in all kinds of chemicals, materials and fuels. Since January 1st one of the directors of the Dutch growth fund BioBased Circular, aiming at implementation of bio-polyester value circles.

David Messer
Director, Climate Smart Buildings Alliance
David Messer is the Director of the Climate Smart Buildings Alliance, a joint initiative of EllisDon, RBC, Mattamy Homes and Atkins Réalis aimed at leading and accelerating the transition to a net zero buildings sector. Through CSBA (pronounced Caz-Bah) David is leading projects aimed at increasing and removing barriers for the use of lower carbon building materials, as well as projects to increase building standards and the pace of building retrofits. David was previously the Executive Director of the Guelph-Wellington Smart Cities Office where he led two initiatives aimed at accelerating the circular economy, Our Food Future, an Infrastructure Canada funded smart cities project, and COIL (Circular Opportunity Innovation Launchpad), a circular business accelerator that worked with over 160 organizations to scale circular solutions in the food, environment and construction/demolition sectors. David has a long history of working on technology, policy and systems change as part of the Governments of Ontario and Alberta, within industry associations and as a consultant in the private sector.
Marie-Claire Laflamme-Sanders
Principal, Senior Vice President and Practice Lead, Capital Markets, Québec
Marie-Claire Laflamme-Sanders is a Principal, Senior Vice President and Practice Lead within Avison Young’s Québec Capital Markets Team. In this role, she is responsible for conceiving, developing, and executing the team’s growth and business development strategy throughout the province of Québec.
Prior to joining Avison Young in March 2023, Marie-Claire worked nine years at JLL where she oversaw and operationalized the team’s growth and expansion across the province and multiple asset classes. She developed the team’s procedural structure, implemented its business development strategy, and built out its operational team. She has overseen over $4 billion in investment transactions across the multifamily, office, retail, and industrial sectors.
Prior to her real estate career, Marie-Claire held various roles in both the private and public sectors, working in the airline industry, in academia, as well as in public health.
