About Dr. Kate Storey
Professor, School of Public Health, University of Alberta
Dr. Kate Storey is a Professor in the School of Public Health at the University of Alberta, CIHR/PHAC Applied Public Health Chair, and Distinguished Researcher with the Stollery Children’s Hospital Foundation. As Lead for “Healthy Schools” within the Centre for Healthy Communities, she is an established leader in creating healthy communities, having secured over $28M in grants and implemented large-scale healthy living programs reaching thousands of children. Her work is rooted in community-based participatory research, qualitative methods, and implementation science, with a strong focus on sustainability and systems-level change.
Dr. Storey leads SIRCLE (Settings-based Intervention Research through Changes in Lifestyles & Environments), a program that develops and scales school- and community-based strategies to promote wellbeing, prevent chronic disease, and reduce health inequities. Her vision is to make the “healthy choice the easy choice” where people live, work, learn, and play, fostering resilience and empowerment in kids, families, and communities. Outside of work, Kate is a mom of two, an avid traveler, and a lover of food and new adventures.
